An excellent put down …

August 1, 2007

I was sitting in an NSF briefing session this morning before acting as a panel member. One member (thankfully not on my particular panel) persisted in interrupting a briefing for reasons that were not clear. The presenter turned to him (after the third interruption with murmuring from the rest of us) and said: Your critical mind is very valuable to us. It was a delight, the delivery was perfectly timed, the tone of the voice just right and silence thereafter reigned.

Either way, back to work reading and scoring proposals (NSF have allowed me to use my Mac rather than the Government provided ThinkPad so I am happy, doubling so as a chance Skype conversation with Humera Khan resulting in my son joining her and others at Six Flags today. He liked that idea a lot more than the schedule I had worked out for him which involved three museums. Serendipity is a wonderful thing.
