Last night I travelled the well worn path back to Canberra for the next Accreditation course. Whilst we had a short delay waiting for a late passenger, I was watching looking out the cain window at the baggage handlers loading the aircraft. A new trolley rolled up to the aircraft and first package on top was my box of material for the course. To my horror, I saw the handlers literally “toss” the box to one side followed by other bags on top whilst they loaded other cargo. I had visions of paper, hexies, pens and other ancillary items being blown all over Sydney aiport! Anyway, once they had loaded this cargo, a literal hand pass (of 12 kg box) and it was in the hold. At the Canberra end I waited with trepidation to see the state of the box – it came out on the conveyor battered and scuffed, but in one piece. Now that we have everything, we are set to go!
