Bio data

September 20, 2008

Its only been a few weeks since I was last in the US, but things change. Fingerprints of your index finger have been around for a bit, but now the sequence is more complex. Four fingers of your right hand, then the thumb and repeat the process with the left. Net result queue length doubled, and very little by way of interview. Border guards focused on new technology not questioning or probing. On a par with asking me every-time I come in to sign a form to say I don’t intend to undertake terrorist activity. All the bio data in the world will not substitute for an alert human. I wonder what they will want next? Bodily fluids?

About the Cynefin Company

The Cynefin Company (formerly known as Cognitive Edge) was founded in 2005 by Dave Snowden. We believe in praxis and focus on building methods, tools and capability that apply the wisdom from Complex Adaptive Systems theory and other scientific disciplines in social systems. We are the world leader in developing management approaches (in society, government and industry) that empower organisations to absorb uncertainty, detect weak signals to enable sense-making in complex systems, act on the rich data, create resilience and, ultimately, thrive in a complex world.
