A five o’clock start today, which is punishing after a nine hour flight from Seattle 24 hours earlier. I realise that it now takes me five minutes to set up the car for a journey. An Americano in a thermal mug is the least of it. The Sat Nav (named Niles and also a blue tooth device for the phone) has to be stuck to the window under the mirror. The support for the iPhone also gets vacuum sealed to the windscreen, bottom right. The the iPod with a radio transmitter is rested on a weighted pad on the dashboard for easy access and listening to my almost complete collection of Discworld audiobooks. OK Saabs are advertised as having aircraft type cockpits but this is probably excessive. USB cables are stretched around and accross the driving position from the neat two USB socket I found for the lighter.
Now are these useful adjuncts to reveal the tedium of a long journey, or a growing technology fetish on my part? Oh the digital camera is on the passenger seat just in case, maybe I get get a mounting bracket for that as well?
