Qantas as usual are doing their bit to make my taste more catholic in nature by being cheapskates; failing to update their inflight entertainment other than by the addition of a couple of less than attractive new blockbusters. So with nothing on the comedy channel that I didn’t see on return journey between Australia and Singapore and every major film already seen in the last round the world or beyond the pale (watching the Spice Girls is a level of degradation too far, I know I went there once) I was forced into the art movie section. Now its not that I don’t like art movies, but they are not sleep fodder for long flights. However I have discovered delights in the past and today was no exception. If you get a chance hunt down Cosi, a wonderful multi-layered film about an unemployed director creating a performance of Mozart’s opera of infidelity thwarted, in a mental hospital with the patients as cast. Its worth watching for the final scenes alone, but the whole thing works.
