I am spending the weekend with Andrea and Nancy (nee Cailleteau) Mills, recently married and setting up at a great flat in Austin. I spent the previous week in Washington supporting Wayne Zandbergen in a couple of high potential clients, and also presented on the subject to complexity to the NSF. This was followed by the APQC conference of which more next week. I haven’t been in Houston/Austin for years and to be there a couple of days after Andrea and Nancy moved in is one of those serendipitous events that are a part of the rich tapestry of a wide network and much travel.
We spent today on a scenic drive, by way of a excellent lunch in a student eatery in San Marcos, to the Guadeloupe River. The scenery was fascinating, and the river a delight. Walking back I came across the butterfly in the photograph. In all my previous visits to Texas I have either transited through airports, or attended events in Dallas, San Antonio & Houston seen through the windows of taxis and hotels. I hadn’t realised just how green the lone star state is, or the amount of rivers and lakes. Now I know better! Tomorrow to brunch in Austin and then the long flight home for a week in the UK, before I return to the US (San Francisco).
