Next, little Megan Lewis-Jones will recite her little poem about where she thinks the WRU are going wrong.
Some months ago I posted a brief tribute to Sir Kyffin Williams, whose writing and painting inspired the naming of the Cynefin framework. He was a painter of great ability; if you don’t know his work then look at Oriel Ynys Môn Gallery’s web site. I learn today of the death of someone very different, but no less able to produce a visual representation of welsh culture, namely the cartoonist Gren. Grenfell Jones was from South Wales and his cartoons put together rugby, singing, beer and many other aspects of welsh culture, including not being English! I have one of a series of mugs he produced featuring Neville the message-bearing sheep, with the text Keep Wales Tidy – throw your litter in England. His annual rugby calendar was an essential part of any household and like all his work was based in the fictional village of Aberflyarff (you have to know your rugby to get that). The above cartoon illustrates his talent and shows his understanding of Welsh Culture. Little Megan Jones would not only be concerned, but would be more than capable and willing to write a poem on that subject.
