it may be a worldview thing

November 27, 2008

My previous post was essentially about different worldviews reflected/reinforced in differing views of “complexity”. Before I am done my guest blogger stint, I will post about differing worldviews of “systems”. Today, while doing some research about a Drupal site I am designing, I came across a great post about how our worldview reflects/reinforces our use of the Web – specifically “Web 2.0”.

David Wilcox quotes Jack Martin Leith and David Gurteen about “Worldview 2.0”:

Worldview 2 is the emerging worldview. In this scheme of things the world is seen as an ecosystem.

… The W2 worldview is based largely on complexity science and the various branches of systems theory

… This is in contrast to Worldview 1 … in which the world is seen as a huge machine.
