Another cube grenade from Hugh at Gaping Void. If there is one thing more frustrating than having to tolerate mediocrity, its having to pretend it doesn’t exist in order to be polite or be considered civilised in a workshop or elsewhere. Some contexts (especially those with new age fluffy bunny facilitation) are especially prone to creating mediocrity as a part of the system; to criticise is to be a social outcast, all ideas have to be considered as equally good. I’ve never understood this, if you have opinions why not subject them to criticism? The essence of debate and dissent is that they increase the scanning range, arguments are improved in consequence. It’s a lot better to get the feedback up front, than to be dismissed behind your back for not having thought something through properly.
