New SenseMaker® web site

March 6, 2013

I spent a fair amount of today working on the text for our “new” SenseMaker® web site.  For too many complex reasons it had ended up as more of an internal note.  Now it really needs a complete revamp but Michael to his great credit drove an interim solution, using the current template but with different text and images.  That he argued could be done now and after realising we could progressively complicate it with hot links I agreed.  That would give us a few months while the iOS version of Explorer produces its first fruit and we progressively launch various SCANS.  Those will be preconfigured, standard, low cost solutions of Culture, Knowledge and Strategy (and possibly more) that can be used as audit tools.   First up will be Culture-SCAN but I get ahead of myself.

So we ended up with the need to create a banner picture followed by three blocks of text and three further blocks in columns.  All with restricted space.   Now that sort of challenge, to write within constraints is always interesting and I finally cracked it thanks to getting the idea of the three “E”s of Empowers, Engages, Enables and then it flowed.  A hat tip to Alison Krauss whose various recordings saw me through the creative process.   Michael then created an image using a triad report with micro narratives and, a couple of hot links later, we were there.

Interested to know what people think.  In a month or so we will have a lot more hot links and then we will think about a full redesign and rewrite.   Mind you my views of Expression Engine are pretty dire at the moment, loading anything takes for ever.  However, for the moment, its good enough.

Oh and I know I promised a post on Leadership around Bob's new book.  However thanks to leaking valve on the tyre I didn't make it.  I'll now have to do a proper review!
