After years of lockdowns, radically altered realities and deep losses, the world is beginning to open up again and ask the question of how we transition into the still-uncertain new future that awaits us, while also respectfully and appropriately dealing with the enormous impact of the recent past.
As organisations emerge from the pandemic and engage in new ways of remote and hybrid working, it remains important to engage with your people’s realities and to create space for sharing, catharsis and collective experience – often without the familiar connectors of the watercooler and corridor conversations that we used to rely on to connect.
We need to acknowledge the importance of managing transitions and recognise the need for celebration, mourning, learning and sense-making that allows us to make the transition back to facing the future, and to enable it for others.
With Covid in Transition, The Cynefin Company enables your organisation to engage staff, teams and diverse stakeholder communities in a collective act of reflection, meaning-making, mourning and celebration.
- Commemorate the shared experiences of this defining period
- Celebrate the contributions of the people who rose up, pulled together and supported each other
- Memorialise and collectively mourn the human and collective losses of the pandemic
The Covid in Transition offering empowers organisations and communities to collectively reflect on their experiences during Covid times and move towards the future, without sacrificing the importance and solemnity of this transition. This process brings a sense of coherence and closure and enables the system to move on without forgetting.
How it works
By inviting people to share their stories, we give voice to the complex and multi-layered experiences of the recent past and reflect on what we have collectively lived through and lost, including those who are no longer with us. It creates a space for the stories and experiences that have fundamentally changed the way we look at our work, our world and our purpose.
A web- or app-based SenseMaker® collector allows for the capture of large amounts of data, with the rich context of narrative, and allows for the vast diversity of viewpoints, meaning and personal experiences of individual humans to be heard. The micro-narrative form reveals the richness of human experience and as with all SenseMaker® projects, respondents interpret their own stories, combining the objectivity of numbers with the explanatory and emotional power of narrative to enable and embed learning.
Decision-makers and leaders can interact with the data and narratives in interactive dashboards as they are collected. As well as acknowledging the challenges and losses of the pandemic, the process also reveals valuable lessons learned and innovations that can be harnessed into the future.
A series of optional add-ons are available to further enrich and enhance the value of the Covid in Transition data for your organisation or community….
Note: prices for these add-ons only valid with Covid in Transition purchase.
SACRED STORYBOOK – £5000
The Covid-19 Sacred Story Book is a living memorial in a physical or digital format – a collection of the stories and lived experiences of your people during the pandemic, crafted into a symbol of remembrance. This artefact creates ritual and celebration around the transition, important after traumatic events, in the form of a beautiful, graphic designed commemorative book of archetypal stories and themes collated from your Covid in Transition data. Our designers can work with you to create a sacred storybook for publication, or we can provide material to your own design teams if preferred.
You can see a story book here. It is a valuable reminder of the pivots, challenges and affordances of what the COVID-19 pandemic enabled, from diverse perspectives.
ANALYTICAL REPORT – £5000
The data emerging from the Covid in Transition assessment is available in interactive dashboards, as stated. However, clients may also choose to have our expert analysts prepare an organisational report on the patterns and themes emerging in the data, for feedback and action planning with decision-makers. The Report includes significant trends and themes to highlight to the system and those who intervene in it. Internal champions will be mentored in the interpretation of the report, or for an additional fee an Executive Briefing with Cynefin Co staff may be arranged.
EUFG ASSESSMENT – £5000
As an add-on to the Covid in Transition process, the data may be fed into an EU Field Guide Assessment, a structured process for capturing lessons learnt during COVID (or any crisis or cycle) and linked to methods and tools to create a resilient organisation. The outcome of this Assessment is a map of the current reality and disposition of the system, revealing constraints and possibilities for moving forward in the desired sense of direction, enabling the deployment of contextual nudges to create required shifts.
Customisation & Training
This offer is an accessible entry into sense-making that requires no additional training to implement. However, all options may be customised for your organisation, and in-house training in some of the associated tools and methods is available.
