To Seattle

June 15, 2008

I never liked Bush much but now its personal. Air Force One arrived at Heathrow at the same time as I was meant to fly out to Seattle. Net result a one hour delay and for what reason? One plane landing should not require all other planes to stand still. The flight was good however, the most spectacular view I have ever seen of the Greenland glaciers, then over the Rockies to Seattle with Mount Rainier seeming to float above the early evening haze as we landed. I like Seattle, a $2 bus ride takes you straight into town and transport is free in the downtown area. If more cities took that attitude we might have fewer cars and better air quality. The Sheraton was overbooked so they put me into the Westin for free. A great example of customer service, and I also have a free upgrade next time I come. Tomorrow my annual indulgence; a keynote to a congress of Librarians.
