Weekend reflections

DSCN0313_2.JPG A busy week with a Gates Foundation event in London and client meetings involving hours of driving so I have had little time to catch up with email and this blog. And of course Saturday saw the start of the Rugby season and I was there for the Blues bonus point win over Edinburgh. For those interested I have also been asked to write a column on rugby for Cymru Culture which has been fun. Sunday I ended up on the 0840 bus to Heathrow airport and a short flight to Amsterdam for a Board/Strategy meeting with Steve and Michael. Five years now for Cognitive Edge as a company, and we’ve managed to build a network and the whole of SenseMaker® without the need for venture capital – something few other companies can boast.

We spent this afternoon gently sipping beer while watching an incredible variety of commercial and private ships and boats passing by in the sun. The most eccentric (along with a picture of location) are below. I caught the interesting multi-faceted image from our table as the sun went down. Two reflections on the glass panel create a picture within a picture (well I like it so there). OK we had some serious discussions as well, dealing with some of the bigger issues in outline before we get down to detail in a meeting room tomorrow.

I just love activity in a harbour, everything is constantly moving and changing. One of these days I’ll end up in my ideal residence – already mentally planned. A first floor flat in a converted warehouse within walking distance of the Rugby grounds in Cardiff. A picture window and balcony with my desk facing, overlooking the docks. Offset the master bedroom on a platform above the desk with the same view. 20 foot high walls, one with paintings and the other solid book shelves with a sliding library ladder. Large sofas and a home cinema/hi fi set up behind the desk. At the back an open plan kitchen with a range and guest bedrooms off a gallery to the rear. One of these days …
