Description
How do we move forward following disagreement, discord or even disastrous fallout?
Mediating conflict requires that we meet those moments of rupture with an act of repair. This SenseMaker® pulse helps identify where values clash, perceptions differ and priorities diverge. Helping people to understand each other so that conflict can be resolved.
Conflict is inevitable. Even if someone’s intentions are good, that doesn’t always match our experience of their behaviour. Repairing the ruptures caused by conflict is essential if we want to build and maintain relationships, whether that be personal, professional, or political. Yet, seeing a situation through another’s eyes is one of the hardest things to do.
Whether it’s between two conflicting opinions or between an aggressor and a victim, as part of restorative justice, it is important for any mediation process or mediator to differentiate between conflict and abuse. This is not always as straightforward as it first appears. This pulse has been designed to differentiate between conflict and abuse, styles of approaching conflict, understanding the nature of harm, and lastly what repair should look like.
