This Hexi facilitation kit is based on the EU Field Guide for Managing Complexity (and chaos) in times of crisis – our joint publication with the EU Commission’s Joint Research Centre – which offers an integration of our methods and body of work, using Cynefin as a lens for managing and navigating in complexity and crisis.

The kit contains all the key methods and tools outlined in the EU Field Guide – a complex ecosystem of possible approaches to use within your organisation or community in times of crisis, represented in simple, tactile interactive hexi pieces. This Hexi kit can be used in physical and virtual environments (virtual version coming soon), allowing groups to work together on problems they face. Bundled Training

For those needing training support on the application of the hexi kit and basic methods….

Our training packages are designed to introduce you to specific principles, processes and practices that you can apply when utilising the packs in workshops or planning sessions. This prepares you to start working with and experimenting with the kits in workshops with clients and communities, refining your approach and skills.

Training includes:

  • Orientation to the various Methods included in the pack, their interactions and assemblages in the context of the relevant field(s) of practice
  • Principles of complex facilitation and consultation, to guide effective application of the kits for collective sense-making and engagement with clients (specific to each pack)
  • How to engage and shift groups between assessment, sense-making, reflection and planning activities, utilising the facilitation kits and core facilitation approaches
  • Training format will be a blended learning programme, including weekly live calls  facilitated by Dave Snowden and Cynefin Co staff
  • Monthly ongoing clinics support users post-training, allowing for application guidance and Q&A with Cynefin Co faculty and fellow practitioners
  • Participants are also invited to join the Cynefin wiki and facilitation kits user community, for ongoing co-creation, learning and support
  • Limited group sizes allow for hands-on application discussions, sharing of cases and client challenges, and advice from Cynefin Co staff and fellow practitioners

Please note:

  • We cannot cover all Methods in an introductory training in-depth – this training offers an introduction, however specific advanced or complex Methods may require additional training to implement.
  • This training is not intended as an introduction to the Cynefin framework or principles of anthro-complexity. We request that you complete a BaseCamp or online Foundations training before engaging with Facilitation Kits – see our training page for more details.
  • We will be launching initial cohorts for Facilitation Kit training in Q2 of 2022, and maintain a regular schedule thereafter. Cohorts and live session timings will be scheduled based on pre-orders, to accommodate global time zones.

Terms & Conditions

As part of the launch of our new Hexi kits, we are offering pre-orders on the very first kits with optional bundled training and coaching. In order to keep costs down, we are batch-ordering for the first kits until we can determine what stocking levels we need to maintain.

  1. Pre-orders require full payment to be made at checkout. Please note that due to the nature of pre-order items, we cannot accept cancellations.
  2. As soon as sufficient pre-orders are received, your Hexi kits will be packaged and shipped to you. you will be notified when we are preparing your order for delivery.
  3. We cannot guarantee a specific ship date as shipping dates are dependent on pre-orders. Please do not pre-order if you are unable to wait for your physical kits.
  4. Our batch targets vary per kit, however, all are <30 orders. If pre-order targets are not reached within 4 months of you placing your order, you may request a full refund.
  5. Shipping details will be sent to you when we are able to confirm that the pre-order has been successful.
  6. Shipping costs are not inclusive of any local taxes or customs.
